Today’s Dose of Hope: God With Us

Merry Christmas! I hope you’re having a blessed day. The fiance and I are in Denver celebrating with his family and enjoying all the snow outside the window. I love Christmas. I love the chance each year to pause and watch the world collectively celebrate that God is with us. That’s why “Oh Holy Night” and “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” are my two favorite Christmas songs. I think each of them captures the true meaning of Christmas, “God with us,” and what it must have felt like to be there on that day.

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”(which means “God with us”). – Matthew 1:23 (NIV)

These are my two favorite versions, which I listen to over and over again. I’ve loved Mariah Carey’s Christmas album for years, and Phil Wickham’s is my new favorite this year. I bought the whole album for the flight to Denver to keep me calm and in the Christmas spirit.
